Bird Boarding - Info and Rates                             A note about Polyoma Vaccination

Dogs have their kennels, cats are use to having only an occasional visitor BUT birds are intelligent creatures who are more like our own children.   And although you may be tempted to ask a family member or maybe a friend to look in on your him or her, boarding may be the better choice.  Many times those you ask to bird-sit may not have the necessary experience or time required to take care of your loved one.   And like children your pet bird can be injuried while playing i.e. damage a blood feather or pull a nail on a toy.  If the person "sitting" your bird is unfamiliar with this and does not know what to do, the safety of your avian family member is at risk.

There are many reasons you may need to remove your bird from your home for a day or longer.
Some typical reasons are:

     1.  You need to travel
     2.  Home repairs, remodeling or interior painting projects
     3.  Carpets being cleaned
     4.  Family vacations / holidays

Although boarding your bird can be stressful for both owner and pet alike, sometimes it is the only way to keep your avian companion safe while you're away.

Birdlady of Easton will be happy to assist you.  I spend a lot of time with the birds and provide a lot of interaction, which helps with the adjustment of being out of their homes.

I suggest that you try to make your baby as comfy as possible with familiar toys, any special diets although I do use quality ABBA bird seed and pellets and will be more than happy to provide these for your bird.  I do not supply toys for boarding birds, however bird toys are available for purchase. If your bird has a familiar cage that is easy to transport it is also a good idea to allow your bird to board in his own bird cage.

Leave your bird or birds in The Birdlady's care and relax on your vacation or trip.  Reservations are requested, so please call ahead for availability.  I do accept last minute or emergency boarders if room is available.

What I Ask of You
Please be sure your bird is free from Psittacosis, Respiratory Infections, Internal Parasites & Bacterial Infections. Birds MUST have vet exam within the last year (proof required) to board, i.e. Well Bird Check - Polyoma Vaccination - Certificate Receipt from an Avian Veterinarian.  Birds bought from Birdlady Of Easton within the past 12 months in homes where there are no other birds are the only exception to the above.  This ensures that no birds come in with a disease and possibly infect others boarding or living here. Our boarding cages are throughly disinfected after each use.  These boarding requirements are strictly enforced to protect the health of your bird as well as the other birds in my store.

We exercise care to ensure the health and safety of all our birds, in the event something does happen to your bird, we would take your bird to a veternian and all expenses will be invoiced and due for payment when you come to pick up at end of boarding. The Birdlady of Easton is not responsible for fire, theft, or acts of nature or for a pre-existing condition, poor health, old age or incorrect instructions that result in illness or death

Please bring supplies for your birds cage - such as their favorite perch and toys that they are used to having around them.  If you like, I can help you select a few bird toys to keep your bird happy while in my care. These will all be returned to you when you pick up your bird.
